My sister and her husband are moving their family for a new job in Tucson. The place they live now is low crime, great schools, hometown atmosphere (Amarillo, TX). What kind of changes should they expect? How are the schools? Where is a nice location to live, etc.? One more thing....how hot is HOT?

Hey I lived in and around Tucson, Az for over 28 years. I love it. Yes it gets HOT. Like well over 100 degrees. Once it was even 110 degrees maybe more. There are lot of things to do there though. The crime is high depending on where you live and where you go. The Foothills is a great area. Great schools, but really expensive. The North side has good neighborhoods and great schools again pricey. Northwet is pretty much the same but slightly lower in price. Just stay away from the South side at night, until you get used to the place. I lived in the west side which is great and low priced yet the schools lacked slighlty. So I put my son in a private school. There are lots of christian schools and private schools. The outdoors is wonderful if you like to swim, camp, hike, bike, picnic, amusement parks, shopping, and they have a huge Swap Meet that’s great . I could go on and on………… Have them check out the local churches if they want. They are very friendly and can give you alot of useful info.
