The Rodel Foundation of Arizona identifies teachers with a track record of extraordinary student achievement in high-poverty schools. Rodel Exemplary Teachers are honored at an annual awards banquet and each receive $10000 in US Savings Bonds. As Rodel Exemplary Teachers, they have committed to supervise and mentor six Rodel Promising Student Teachers over the next three years. In 10 years, more than 1000 new teachers -- mentored and trained by Rodel Exemplary Teachers -- will have the potential to reach more than 1 million Arizona students.

GEAR UP - Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs - is a national college access program started in 1999, now in 47 states. The purpose of GEAR UP is to significantly increase the number of students who stay in school and are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. The US Department of Education (USDOE) awards six-year grants to States and to Partnerships between universities and schools. Grantees serve an entire cohort of students beginning in grade seven, and follow the cohort through high school.
