Kori Platts of Connolly Middle School with "All About Animals" This project allows sixth-graders an up close and personal look at the body systems of various vertebrates and invertebrates. The students begin by reading about each type of animal and drawing diagrams of the body parts and systems. After that, they get to dissect the animal for themselves. The lab gives students a way to get involved in classroom activities and class attendance is usually perfect during lab days....
Collette Keime of Connolly Middle School with "Building a Motor" This lab exercise teaches sixth-graders how to build a motor to understand how motors convert energy into motion. Students build magnets and circuits to learn how energy flows. The lab is very hands on and a motivating activity for students of all ability levels.
